Advanced SQL - Integrating Third Party Data

It’s inevitable… your district will eventually fall in love with vendor software that doesn’t easily pass data back to your information system. Fortunately, some SQL skills and a few best practices can make this process much smoother for you. Using a simple but common example (exchanging information with a transportation routing system), we will cover skills you need you need to build and automate any integration.

The importance of test environments and backups
Using SELECT to gather required information
Using UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE statements to modify data
Encapsulating peer-reviewed work within a stored procedure
Trapping potential errors
Running stored procedures on a schedule to automate the integration
Reviewing the results of your scheduled job in an integrations competency center
