Advanced SQL - Integrating Third Party Data
Tuesday October 8, 2024 10:00am - 10:55am PDT
It’s inevitable… your district will eventually fall in love with vendor software that doesn’t easily pass data back to your information system. Fortunately, some SQL skills and a few best practices can make this process much smoother for you. Using a simple but common example (exchanging information with a transportation routing system), we will cover skills you need you need to build and automate any integration.
  • The importance of test environments and backups
  • Using SELECT to gather required information
  • Using UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE statements to modify data
  • Encapsulating peer-reviewed work within a stored procedure
  • Trapping potential errors
  • Running stored procedures on a schedule to automate the integration
  • Reviewing the results of your scheduled job in an integrations competency center

Advanced SQL - Integrations Competency Center
Thursday October 10, 2024 10:50am - 11:45am PDT
If your district manages more than a small handful of integrations and overnight processes, it becomes quite a challenge to keep track of them all. In this session, we will deeply dive into how to create your own integrations competency center (source code included) to manage your recurring tasks in both eSchoolPLUS and BusinessPLUS. Once in place, answers to these questions will always be at your fingertips.
  • How many third party integrations do we have?
  • Which jobs will not run if the system is down from 9pm-11pm?
  • Which maintenance jobs take the longest to run, or overlap with other jobs vying for the same data?
  • Which jobs have failed recently? Or repeatedly?
  • Who do I contact when a job fails?
